Do It Yourself: Plugging Your Bathtub Drain

Don’t have a bathtub drain plug? Or maybe it isn’t working properly? Not to worry, you can make one yourself!

After a long day, sometimes you just want to take a bath. Fixing your bathtub drain stopper is the last thing you want to do. But with these easy do it yourself tricks, you won’t have to spend much time worrying about it!Bath tub

Empty Coffee Pod

For coffee drinkers, use one of those used coffee pods! A small plastic pod or medicine cup is usually the right size to block your drain. If it happens to be too small, you can use thick rubber bands around them to seal it.

Flat Lid

A flat lid from a jar is usually large enough to cover the drain as well. Just lay it flat over the drain. You can dampen the bottom and press the lid down for a strong seal.

Plastic Bag

Fill a plastic bag with water. Make sure it is large enough to fit over the drain. Be smart as you don’t want this to get stuck and clog your drain!

Wash Cloth & Plastic Bag

Put a wet washcloth in a plastic bag and get most of the air out. Tie a knot at the end of the bag and place over the drain to seal off water from going down the drain.

Plumbing Putty

Not many people have plumbing putty on hand, but if you do, this works great to stop your drain!
